UNO Teacher Scholars Academy

The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences is looking for the Fall 2025 cohort of teacher candidate scholars, and we encourage you to apply. The UNO Teacher Scholars Academy is a select group of high-achieving teacher candidates who embody leadership qualities, academic excellence, and commitment to teach in Nebraska for 4 years.

  1. You will provide responses to the required questions below.
    • Please talk about your expectations for being part of a cohort, both from your perspective and the perspective of the cohort program.
    • Video response required-Why do you want to be selected as a TSA Scholar? Please provide a link to a video of you answering this question. Record yourself, upload the video to Google drive, and provide a link to the video (make sure the link is open so anyone can view it).
    • What do you value about leaders? How do you define what an effective leader is and how have you been a leader in the past?
    • What drew you into the education field or becoming a teacher?
  2. I understand, if I am accepted in the UNO TSA program scholarship, I will commit to teaching in Nebraska for four years upon exiting the UNO OPS TSA program, at a minimum, equal to the number of years in the TSA program scholarship.
  3. Please respond yes if you would like to be considered for a scholarship funded by Omaha Public Schools that would require a commitment to teach in OPS for 4 years after graduation.
  4. Please respond yes if you are a graduate of Papillion La Vista Community Schools and would like to be considered for the PLCS scholarship.
