Phillip Schrager Scholarship for Student Leaders

The Philip Schrager Scholarship Program for Student Leadership is awarded to high school seniors with documented and verified financial need that have demonstrated leadership ability in high school. Candidates are required to submit a resume that includes the student’s leadership activities, one letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, counselor or principal and a High school transcript to complete the application.

Phillip Schrager is an Omaha native who is committed to the betterment of his community. He is an accomplished entrepreneur, a generous philanthropist, and a successful leader. In 1964, he founded the Pacesetter Corporation, which became America’s largest direct-sales manufacturer of home improvement products. In 2004, he sold the sales and manufacturing components of Pacesetter, but he retained the finance portion of the company, which now operates under the name AmeriFirst Home Improvement Finance Company. Mr. Schrager has made lasting contributions in the nonprofit sector. Throughout the years, his involvement with civic projects and charitable organizations has included the Bemis Foundation, Beth El Synagogue of Omaha, Boy Scouts of America, Boys and Girls Clubs of Omaha, Children’s Respite Center, Goodwill Industries, Jewish Federation of Omaha, Joslyn Art Museum, Nebraska Arts Foundation, Omaha Symphony, Opera Omaha, Planned Parenthood, Project Harmony, Special Olympics of Nebraska, Temple Israel, United States Holocaust Museum, United Way, and the University of Nebraska Foundation.

  2. Applicants for the Phillip Schrager Scholarship for Student Leaders are asked to release confidential personal and educational information to the scholarship donors and selection committee. Such confidential information includes but is not limited to: demographic data, ACT/SAT scores, high school transcript data, financial aid data, and UNO academic records. I authorize the release of this information to the donor and selection committee (answering no will eliminate you from consideration)?
  3. Please upload a high school transcript (unofficial is acceptable). This does not satisfy the requirement of submitting an official transcript to our admissions office.
